The proposed Stormwater Detention Basin is located in south-western Sydney in Edmondson Park. It is bounded by Camden Valley Way, Bernera Road and The Australian Islamic House Masjid. The design of the Basin for Liverpool City Council involved undertaking site investigations, geotechnical investigation, and investigation of underground utility services, and carrying out both concept and detailed design.
The project also involved hydrologic & hydraulic modelling, dam break analysis, flood impact assessment and flood mapping for all design flood events including the 20%AEP, 5%AEP, and 1% AEP and up to the PMF. The basin performance achieved the desired objectives of the project and impact assessment of climate change sensitivity in accordance with DECCW’s guidelines.
Project objectives included maximising flood storage, reducing flood levels for events up to the probable maximum flood (PMF) and alleviating flooding problems, meeting specific Council's water quality improvement targets, provision of dog friendly pathways, wheelchair access, viewing platforms for recreation, while maintaining current access from Camden Valley Way to the Australian Islamic House Masjid.
